Robin Gosens, Florian Neuhaus and Oliver Baumann have been handed their first call-ups to the Germany squad by Joachim Low.

Prior to announcing his group for the Nations League meetings with Spain and Switzerland in September, Low confirmed Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka, Lukas Klostermann and Marcel Halstenberg would play no part following RB Leipzig's run to the Champions League semi-finals and Bayern Munich's success in the competition.

The Germany boss has consequently injected some new blood into his squad, with 30-year-old Hoffenheim goalkeeper Baumann included as Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who suffered a humiliating 8-2 Champions League quarter-final loss to Bayern with Barcelona, sits out.

Atalanta made an impressive run to the last eight in Europe before succumbing to a late loss against finalists Paris Saint-Germain but left-back Gosens has been rewarded for his performances.

Neuhaus, part of the Germany team that were runners-up at the European Under-21 Championship last year, earned his maiden senior selection following a second impressive season with Borussia Monchengladbach.

"We decided on Oliver Baumann in goal. He has been consistently performing for 10 years and has gained international experience," said Low.

"We watched Robin Gosens last season. He had a very strong season and deserved to be selected.

"Florian Neuhaus is a very intelligent player and has already performed well in the Under-21s and therefore deserves his call-up."

While the majority of the Bayern squad have been granted a rest, centre-back Niklas Sule and Leroy Sane - who was ineligible for the Champions League mini-tournament in Lisbon - will form part of Low's 22-man squad.

PSG duo Thilo Kehrer and Julian Draxler have also been named, with Low believing the fact the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season was cancelled in April means they will not be overloaded.

"Julian Draxler and Thilo Kehrer are included because they had a long break in France and didn't play as many games as the players from Leipzig or Bayern," said Low.

Germany squad:

Oliver Baumann (Borussia Monchengladbach), Bernd Leno (Arsenal), Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt); Matthias Ginter (Borussia Monchengladbach), Robin Gosens (Atalanta), Thilo Kehrer (Paris Saint-Germain), Robin Koch (Freiburg), Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Nico Schulz (Borussia Dortmund), Niklas Sule (Bayern Munich), Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen); Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund), Emre Can (Borussia Dortmund), Julian Draxler (Paris Saint-Germain), Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City), Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Florian Neuhaus (Hoffenheim), Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich), Suat Serdar (Schalke); Luca Waldschmidt (Benfica), Timo Werner (Chelsea).
