Francis Ngannou is a prominent professional mixed martial artist and a boxer who fights out of Paris, France. He started his professional journey in mixed martial arts on November 30, 2013, by facing Rachid Benzina at 100% Fight: Contenders 20. Ngannou won the fight by finishing Benzina in the first round to kick off his career in the sport. Ngannou eventually made his promotional debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on December 19, 2015. Ngannou became the UFC heavyweight champion by knocking out Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 in the first round on March 27, 2021. He left the promotion after making one title defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 and was stripped of his championship by the company.

After his UFC exit, Francis Ngannou fought two high-profile boxing bouts against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. He lost on both occasions, however, his performance against Fury earned him a lot of acclaim. Francis Ngannou is scheduled to make his return to mixed martial arts on October 19, 2024, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against Renan Fereira.

Francis Ngannou was a father to a son named Kobe. He was born on January 13, 2023, Kobe passed away when he was just 15 months old. Ngannou broke the news of his passing on his Instagram on April 29, 2024, without divulging the reasons that led to his death. However, on an episode of Joe Rogan's Podcast, Ngannou revealed that his son had some issues related to his brain, which they were not aware of.

"He passed out twice. The first time was in Cameroon, we took him to the hospital. They didn’t find anything. The second time was in Saudi Arabia, we took him to the hospital. They ran a lot of exams, they didn’t do anything. They did the EEG, they didn’t do the CAT scan or MRI, because according to them, their conclusion was that he had a swollen lung. That is what was pressing his chest and stopping him from breathing and it created that thing."

Francis Ngannou was born on September 5, 1986, in Batie, Cameroon. He migrated to Paris, France, to pursue a career in combat sports in his 20s. Ngannou currently holds citizenship in both Cameroon and France.
