Francis Ngannou, nicknamed "The Predator," was born in Batie, Cameroon on September 5, 1986. Ngannou endured a rough childhood as he had to work in a sand quarry from a very young age just to make ends meet. At 26 years old, Ngannou moved to Paris in pursuit of a combat sport, despite being homeless upon his arrival. He started his MMA training in 2013 and later joined UFC in 2015. With his enormous power and athletic ability, he gained quick prominence to be one of the most feared heavyweights in the promotion.

Among his most notable knockouts in the UFC, Ngannou's devastating finish of Alistair Overeem is, without a doubt, the one that etched itself into MMA history. He also claimed victories over top names like Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos. After an initial loss against Stipe Miocic in 2018 for the heavyweight title, Ngannou regrouped himself and defeated him in 2021 to capture the UFC heavyweight championship in their rematch. However, in 2023, he parted ways with the UFC to explore other opportunities including professional boxing. With his record-setting punching power and inspiring personal story, Ngannou has turned himself into an icon of perseverance, and as of October 16, 2024, he holds an MMA record of 17-3-0.
