Khamzat Chimaev, one of the most gifted athletes in the UFC, made his promotional debut in July 2020, winning a middleweight bout against John Phillips and earning a Performance of the Night award. Just ten days later, he secured a victory against Rhys McKee in a welterweight contest, setting a record for the fastest consecutive wins in modern UFC history.


Chimaev continued his remarkable streak with a 17-second knockout of Gerald Meerschaert in September 2020. He was slated to fight Leon Edwards in December 2020 but faced COVID-19-related setbacks, leading to multiple fight cancellations. Chimaev briefly announced his retirement in March 2021 but later returned in October 2021 with a technical submission win over Li Jingliang.


In April 2022, he went to war against Gilbert Burns and won via unanimous decision and earned Fight of the Night honors. However, he missed weight in September 2022 for his PPV headlining fight against Nate Diaz, resulting in a fight with Kevin Holland, which he won via D'Arce Choke. Chimaev is set to return to middleweight on October 21, 2023, against Kamaru Usman in the co-main event of UFC 294.
