Covington Masvidal Altercation
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were involved in a fight on March 22, 2022 outside of a Miami Beach steakhouse. As per the incident, Covington was at the restaurant with the Nelk Boys. Suddenly, Jorge Masvidal arrived out of nowhere and assaulted him when he was leaving the restaurant. Incidentally, this assault was mostly the result of some comments that Covington had earlier made about Masvidal’s relationship with his children.
The two former friends turned rivals had also faced each other at UFC 272: Covington vs Masvidal on March 5, 2022 and Covington came out the winner. The “Super villain” of UFC previously called himself the “King of Miami” which was not well-liked by Masvidal, a native of Miami. However, it was his calling Masvidal as a “deadbeat dad” that culminated the incident bertween the two.
During the assault, Masvidal sucker punched Covington and kept beating him until he lost a teeth and got his Rolex watch worth $90,000 damaged. Resultantly, Masvidal was arrested but pleaded not guilty to the chrges against him . He was also ordered to stay at least 25 feet away from Covington while the case continued.
Colby Covington later took to social media to express his disappointment with the behaviour that “Gamebred” put up during the assault. Masvidal in his reply stated that, if someone talks trash about something, they better have the ability to back it up and that is the way it works in Miami. The bad blood between the former friends still exists and they have even involved themselves in a heated exchange of words even after their war.
