Colby Covington is an exciting combat sports athlete who is a menace in media interactions. He is equipped with a gas tank that lasts the five rounds of a major fight in professional mixed martial arts by a fair margin. A professional mixed martial artist since 2012, Covington is a leading competitor in the coveted Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a prominent welterweight fighter in the promotion. Coby Covington picked up wrestling during his days at Thurston High School in Oregon. In his days at Iowa Central Community College, he won the 165-pound national junior college wrestling title with an impeccable record of 34-0 as a true freshman.

Colby Covington made his professional debut in 2012 and continued to make his way into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as an undefeated mixed martial artist with a six-fight winning streak. He was handed his first loss by Warlley Alves at UFC 194 by first-round submission. Covington has since gone on to craft an impressive record and has pushed himself into the front row of welterweight title contention. Colby Covington has reigned as the interim UFC welterweight champion once before getting stripped of the title due to an injury in 2018. Covington weighed in as the backup fighter for Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman at UFC 286. Edwards defended his title, and Covington was quick to call him out for a welterweight title bout. The duo headlined UFC 296 in a welterweight title showdown on December 16, 2023. Colby Covington lost the bout via a unanimous decision and failed to win the title.

Colby Covington was born to Brad and Noelle Covington on February 22, 1988, in Clovis, California, USA. Covington’s parents moved to Oregon when he was just eight. Brad Covington himself was a wrestler while he was at the Oregon Institute of Technology and Southern Oregon University.
