Joseph Alt is an American football offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers as of the 2024 NFL season. The Chargers selected him with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. He subsequently signed a four-year rookie contract with the team valued at $33.1 million. As of Week 6 in the 2024 NFL season, he has appeared in 4 games played, starting all of them as per Pro Football Reference.

Alt, who is 21 years old as of October 2024, was born in North Oaks, Minnesota on February 28, 2003. He attended Totino-Grace High School in his home state of Minnesota and continued his education and football career at the University of Notre Dame where he played on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team for three years from 2021 to 2023. Alt was not only able to feature in all thirteen games as a true freshman in 2021 but was also the starting left tackle for all games. According to the college's official website, he was named a Unanimous All-American and was honored as the Notre Dame Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2023. He was also named the First-team All-American selection in 2022.
