The Las Vegas Raiders were originally formed as the Oakland Raiders in 1960 and competed as a charter member of the American Football League. The franchise has a rather unique history of relocating between cities. The Oakland Raiders relocated to Los Angeles and played as the Los Angeles Raiders between 1982 and 1994. The team relocated to Oakland again in 1995. In 2017, the NFL team owners association unanimously approved the relocation of the Raiders Las Vegas. They completed the move in 2020, to be formally recognised as the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders became a formidable force after initial years of struggle when head coach Al Davis joined in 1963.
