The Arizona Coyotes were an American professional ice hockey team that played in the NHL's Western Conference from 1996 to 2024. Originally known as the Winnipeg Jets, the team relocated to Arizona and became the Phoenix Coyotes. Before joining the NHL, the franchise won three World Hockey Association (WHA) titles in the 1970s.

After moving from Winnipeg, the team had some early success with players like Keith Tkachuk and Shane Doan, making the playoffs in their first four seasons in Phoenix. Despite struggles, they won their first division title in 2011–12 and reached the Western Conference finals. However, ongoing financial issues led to the team filing for bankruptcy in 2009, after which the NHL took control of the franchise.

In 2022, the Coyotes began playing at Arizona State University’s Mullett Arena, as the team faced challenges securing a permanent arena. By 2024, the franchise's assets were sold to a group in Utah, marking the end of the Coyotes in Arizona. The Utah-based NHL team is set to begin play in the 2024–25 season.

The Utah Hockey Club will then face the Colorado Avalanche on September 30, followed by matchups against the San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks, and a final home game against Colorado on October 6.
