Maxwell John Domi is a Canadian ice hockey professional player currently playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). Throughout his career in the NHL, Domi has played for many teams including Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Arizona Coyotes, and is currently playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs.


Born on March 2, 1995, Domi was selected 12th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He quickly established his name in the league and formed a successful partnership with Anthony Duclair, earning the nickname "The Killer D's." However, Domi joined the Montreal Canadiens in 2018, where he signed a two-year contract with them for $6.3 million.


Fast-forward to 2022, Domi signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks for $3 million. On his 28th birthday March 2, he was traded to the Dallas Stars and soon after that on July 22, 2023, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent for a year long contract worth $3 million.

Max Domi's Early Life

Domi started his professional hockey journey with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League in 2011. He was later traded to the London Knights where he showcased his talent with a hat-trick and an important assist against the Saginaw Spirit in September 2011. He contributed to the Knights to secure the 2012 OHL Championship. Due to his contributions, Max was recognized as the top prospect for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.


Domi was selected in the first round (12th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Entry Level Draft. He soon singed an three-year entry level contract with the team. Notably, his father, Tie, ince played for the franchise when it was known as the Winnipeg Jets.
