Shayne Gostisbehere is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL, as of May 2025. Born April 20, 1993, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, he began his hockey journey playing for traveling hockey teams before joining the South Kent School. He captained the team and earned MVP honors while scoring 69 points in his two years at the school, as per his college roster. He then starred at Union College, becoming one of the NCAA’s top defensemen. During his collegiate career, he was a Hobey Baker finalist, NCAA national champion, and Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player.

Shayne Gostisbehere was drafted 78th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Gostisbehere made his NHL debut in the 2014-15 season. Over his career, he has played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes, and Detroit Red Wings. In 2024, he joined the Carolina Hurricanes under a three-year, $9.6 million contract.
