Boyd Martin is an Australian-born American equestrian known for his exceptional achievements in eventing. Boyd has represented the United States in four consecutive Summer Olympic Games 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024. Boyd has achieved three gold medals at the Pan American Games one as an individual and two with the U.S. team. Additionally, he is a World Championships team silver medal in 2022 and a two-time CCI5*-L winner.

At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Boyd rode Fedarman B horse and delivered an outstanding performance, securing a tenth-place finish individually, the highest among the U.S. team. He contributed to the U.S. Eventing Team finishing seventh. This was Boyd's first top-ten finish at an Olympic Games.

Boyd Martin Birthplace

Boyd Martin was born in Terrey Hills, New South Wales, Australia to an Australian father and an American mother. His mother Toy Dorgan is an American speed skater, and his father Ross Martin was an Australian cross-country skier. Ross Martin passed away on July 2, 2011.

Both his parents competed in the 1968 Winter Olympics, where they first met. Ross Martin finished 60th in both the 15 km and 30 km events.

Boyd began his riding journey at the Forrest Hills Pony Club with a pony named Willy. After high school, he spent eight years at Heath and Rozzie Ryan's Newcastle Equestrian Centre, where he started as a working student and eventually ran his own business. During this time, he represented Australia in international competitions, including a notable victory at the 2003 Adelaide CCI4* with his horse True Blue Toozac.

In 2006, Boyd traveled to America to compete at Rolex Kentucky CCI4*. In 2007, he moved to the USA and decided to stay in the U.S. with his wife Silvia. They set up their own business in Windurra USA in 2010. Boyd and Silvia own a farm in Cochranville, Pennsylvania, and spend their winters in Aiken, South Carolina. Boyd officially represented the USA for the first time in the 2012 Olympics.
