Laney-Hamilton continued her basketball journey at Rutgers, where she played for the Scarlet Knights. As a freshman in 2011, she was named to the Big East All-Freshman Team. Due to her college performances, she was drafted 17th overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2015 WNBA draft. Her professional career gained momentum in 2020 when she was awarded the WNBA Most Improved Player and earned a spot on the WNBA All-Defensive First Team in the same year.
