The legend of women’s basketball Suzanne Brigit Bird, is known for her long career with the Seattle Storm in the WNBA, where she played start to retirement. Her journey began at Syosset High School, but she transferred to Christ the King Regional High School in New York to face stronger competition. During Bird's high school years, she led her team to the New York State championship and established herself as the top women's basketball player in the country.

Bird then joined the University of Connecticut, playing for the UConn Huskies, where she became one of the most decorated college players in women's college basketball history. She also got the most prestigious Naismith Award as College Player of the Year for the best point guard in the country. After college, Bird was selected first overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She made an immediate impact, earning an All-Star selection in her rookie year. Throughout her career, she achieved four WNBA championships and was selected as an All-Star 13 times. Other than the WNBA, Bird also found success overseas, particularly in the Russian league, where she won five league championships. She also wins 5 gold medals in the Olympics as a member of the USA women 's basketball team.

Bird joined the University of Connecticut in the year 1998 for her basketball future. In her freshman season, she played only eight games because Bird tore her ACL. Having participated in over 20% of the team's games during the 1998–1999 season, she couldn't fully establish her reputation. However, after recovering fully, she led her team to a 36–1 record, capturing the Big East Championship and advancing to the 2000 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament in her sophomore year. In her junior year 2000, the Huskies posted a 32–3 record, with their final defeat coming at the hands of Notre Dame in the Final Four.

In 2001 her senior year, Bird’s team the Huskies went undefeated with a 39–0 record. Bird received numerous awards for her outstanding performance in college, including:

  • Wade Trophy National Player of the Year in 2001.

  • Associated Press Player of the Year 2001.

  • Naismith Player of the Year 2001

  • NCAA Player of the Year for Connecticut 2001

  • Senior CLASS Award for the nation’s top senior women's basketball player (2001)

  • Three-time Nancy Lieberman National Point Guard of the Year Award winner

  • Kodak All-American 2001

  • Two-Time ESPN Point Guard of the Year

  • United States Basketball Writers Association First Team All-American 2001

  • BIG EAST Player of the Year (2001)

  • First Team All-BIG EAST (2001)

After the end of her college career, she also received some awards like

  • Honda Award for Women's Basketball (2002)

  • Final Four All-Tournament Team Selection (2002)

  • NCAA Tournament Mideast Region Most Outstanding Player (2002)

  • BIG EAST All-Tournament Team (2002)

Other than playing basketball Bird also completed her graduation degree in communication sciences from the University of Connecticut.
