Ambrose began his pro wrestling career in 2004 on the American independent circuit. He performed for several promotions, including FIP, CZW and Dragon Gate USA and held numerous championships including the FIP World Heavyweight Championship, HWA Heavyweight Championship and CZW World Heavyweight Championship, prior to joining WWE. Moxley made his NJPW debut at Best of the Super Juniors 26 defeating Juice Robinson for the IWGP United States Championship. He competed in the ‘B Block’ of the G1 Climax. He is the first and the only wrestler to have held both the WWE and IWGP United States Championships.
