Nuufolau Joel Seanoa is an American Professional Wrestler, better known by his in-ring name Samoa Joe. Joe was the first graduate of the UIWA West Coast Dojo in 1999, trained under Gregory Scott Daves (Cincinnati Red), Johnny Hemp and John Delayo. He debuted three months later in a match against “Uncle” Jess Hensen. Joe soon signed a development contract with WWE’s developmental brand Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), and won the UPW Heavyweight Championship and has become the longest reigning UPW Heavyweight champion ever. Samoa Joe then traveled to Japan and wrestled for Wrestling Zero-One promotion and became the inaugural NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Championship. He then joined ROH in 2002 as Christopher Daniels “hired assassin”. Sooner Joe raised up his rank and became the ROH World Heavyweight Champion and holded the title for 21 months.





During his reign his trilogy title defense against CM Punk earned 5 star rating Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. After losing the title to Austin Aries, Joe became the Pure Champion. Joe has then worked for multiple independent wrestling promotions, including Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) promotion in Southern California, Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South (IWA-MS), Puerto Rican International Wrestling Association (IWA), Championship Wrestling (CW) from Hollywood, German Stampede Wrestling (GSW), Westside Xtreme Wrestling (WXP) in German, and International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW:UK). Joe then got signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and had a long history there for almost a decade. Styles remained undefeated for over 18 months, by making the opponent suffer pain and making them unconscious. He is also called “The Samoan Submission Machine”. Styles had a long term feud with some of the other top stars of the business, which includes AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Sting, Scott Steiner, Christian Cage, Booker T and so on. He was in the prime of his career in TNA, where he won TNA Television Championship once, TNA World Heavyweight Championship once, TNA World Tag Team Championship twice, TNA X Division Championship five times.





He is the 3rd TNA Grand Slam Champion and the 3rd TNA Triple Crown Champion. He then returned to ROH and soon got a contract from WWE to perform on the NXT roster. He made his NXT debut as a face in May 2015 at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable during the main event, stopping Kevin Owens from attacking injured Sami Zayn.




Samoa Joe teamed up with Fin Balor and won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. He then turned heel by attacking Fin Balor, and this feud continued for months. Joe tried to win the NXT Championship from Balor but failed miserably. He then earned a rematch at a NXT live event and won the NXT Championship. He lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura after a couple of months. The two had a feud for months exchanging the championship between them and finally ended their feud, where Joe lost the match. Joe then appeared on Raw tracking Seth Rollins, they had a feud for a couple of months, where Joe cost Rollins’ Intercontinental Championship opportunity.



He then attempted his pursuits for the Universal Championship but failed due to multiple injuries. Joe was then traded to SmackDown and won his first championship in WWE, by becoming the United States Champion.




Joe lost the title and turned his focus to Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship, but lost to Kingston. He then suffered from injury and was away from in-ring action, instead appearing as the color commentator on Raw till 2021.




He then got released and was re-signed to the NXT brand, he defeated Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship and became the first ever three time NXT Champion.




He was again injured and got released by the company. Joe is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its sister company Ring of Honor (ROH). He is the former two-time AEW TNT Champion and is currently holding the ROH World Television Championship. He has recently been inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame in 2022.
