Polarizing rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, may not have gained any new fans this week. The controversial rapper was ejected from the World Baseball Classic matchup between Team Mexico and Team Puerto Rico for intoxication and disturbing the fans around him.

He has now found himself in the news yet again after being jumped in the bathroom of a gym in a South Florida LA Fitness on Tuesday night. His attorney, Lance Lazzaro, said the rapper was attacked inside and outside of the LA Fitness gym sauna by three or four men.

“He had cuts to his face and bruises,” Lazzaro said.

The attorney said that the perpetrators fled after employees heard about the disturbance.

In a video leaked on Twitter, one of Hernandez’s assailants is heard saying, “Take a picture. I’m gonna be famous now.”

Another video captured a bloodied Hernandez walking out of the gym.

While the motivation behind the attack is not known, given his brash attitude and history with gangs, it's not surprising that such an event would occur.

A look at Tekashi 6ix9ine's prison stint

Tekashi 6ix9ine has been one of the most polarizing rappers since he burst onto the scene in 2014. The diminutive rapper, who is known for his aggressive rapping style and public feuds, was sentenced to two years in prison in 2019. His nine charges included racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearm offenses in relation to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

As if that wasn't enough, Tekashi 6ix9ine received a shortened prison sentence after he cooperated with federal officials to imprison his associates, a.k.a. snitching.

Looking at what led to his World Baseball Classic ejection

The rapper was removed from a World Baseball Classic game at LoanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins.

According to multiple reports, “He was drunk, he was inebriated and he was out of control,” the eyewitness adds. “There were a lot of families there last night, and he was bothering people.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine was getting into it with Puerto Rican fans, as the rapper was obnoxiously supporting Team Mexico during the match. One witness claimed that he was almost hit in the head by a beer can during the exchange.
