He previously played for the Texas Longhorns in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He attended Cedar Creek High School, where he began his football journey. He recorded 75 tackles (54 solo), 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles as a sophomore. The following year, he recorded 92 total tackles (73 solo), 25.0 tackles for loss, six sacks, 19 quarterback hurries, and two pass breakups. During his senior year, he recorded 86 tackles (53 solo), 35.0 tackles for loss, and eight sacks, earning an invite to the 2020 All-American Bowl and a consensus five-star ranking upon graduation. Collins enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin in 2020. During his first two years with the Longhorns, Collins recorded 47 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks. Although his production took a hit in his junior year, he bounced back in his senior year, recording 22 combined tackles and two sacks. During his graduate year in 2024, Collins recorded a career-high 55 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, seven passes deflected, a forced fumble, and a sack, as per Sports Reference.
