The Punjab Kings Aka PBKS is a franchise cricket team in the Indian Premier League, based in Mohali, Punjab. The franchise has used multiple home grounds though due to various reasons. Established in 2008 as Kings XI Punjab, the team rebranded to Punjab Kings in 2021 and is co-owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul. The team has seen multiple captains over the years, with Shreyas Iyer, leading the squad as of 2025. Punjab Kings have made it to the IPL playoffs twice, finishing as semi-finalists in the inaugural 2008 season and runners-up in 2014.

Their home ground is the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali, with Dharamsala serving as a secondary venue. The Punjab Kings is owned by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, co-owned by Mohit Burman of Dabur India, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia of the Wadia’s group, and Karan Paul. Burman holds the highest stake (46%), followed by Zinta and Wadia (23% each), while Paul owns an eight percent stake as per many reports.

Mohit Burman is a businessman from Delhi who holds an MBA in Finance from Massachusetts Babson Graduate School of Business. He is a Director of Dabur India Ltd. and has bought franchises in other sports leagues.

Ness Wadia holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management from the University of Warwick. After getting his master's, Wadia returned to India to work as a Deputy Managing Director of Bombay Dying, an Indian textiles company.

Preity Zinta is an Indian actress mainly famous for acting in movies such as Veer-Zaara, Koi...Mil Gaya, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, among others. In 2008, she became the first woman to own an IPL team. At the time of inception, Zinta's investment in the team was approximately Rs. 35 crores, as per Money Control.

Karan Paul is an Indian businessman and serves as the chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group, as of March 2025. He started working in the Apeejay Surrendra Group in 1992 and after 12 years, became the Chairman of the Group.

Punjab Kings saw a brand value of $68 million in 2024, reflecting 49% growth from 2023, as per reports. The amount is equal to around ₹566 crore. Purchased for $76 million in 2008, the team was valued at $925 million by 2022 as per MoneyControl.
