Livid Mihajlovic pushes assistants for substituting wrong player
MILAN (Reuters) - Furious Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic pushed and shoved his own assistants during the 3-0 Serie A win over Sassuolo on Sunday after they substituted the wrong player.
Mihajlovic said he told them to take off midfielder Joel Obi in the 81st minute when his team were winning 1-0 - and was livid when he saw Tomas Rincon walking off instead.
He pushed Attilio Lombardo and Luca Castellazzi in a fit of rage and tried to force Rincon back on to the pitch but it was too late and the Venezuelan had to take his place on the bench.
"Matches are decided by the smallest details and you can't afford to make the wrong substitution. Maybe I didn't make myself clear but for me it was an obvious change," said Serb Mihajlovic.
"I apologised to Luca and Attilio in the changing-room. I'm sorry for my reaction but that's how I am."
Obi remained on the pitch until the end and, in a final twist, scored Torino's last goal.
