Benoît Saint Denis, aka God of War, a French lightweight fighter for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), was born on December 18, 1995. He lost his debut against Elizeu Zaleki dos Santos in the welterweight class via a unanimous decision in October 2021.
Saint Denis served with the French Army Special Forces Command's 1st Marine Infantry Paratroopers Regiment before entering the mixed martial arts world. He fought terrorist organizations while serving in Mali throughout the conflict and, more broadly, in West Africa. In September 2017, he received the Combatant's Cross and the Medal of the Nation's Gratitude. In the Bayonne region, near his regiment, Saint Denis started Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) with Christophe Savoca and kick-boxing with Stéphane Susperregui in the same year.
In the 2019 France National Championship, he also won the GI and NO Gi titles while competing in the blue-belt middleweight class. By March 2019, he had departed the Army after five years of service. Additionally, he took part in two ACB JJ shows, most notably one when he lost by points to Yusup Raisov. He practiced mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2018 and won the Invictus amateur competition in San Sebastián, Spain, on December 15, 2018.
Originally scheduled to face Joe Solecki in February 2023 at UFC Fight Night 219, Saint Denis, however, had to leave the bout due to an ankle injury. Saint Denis was scheduled to face Vinc Pichel at the UFC on ESPN 48 on July 1, 2023. However, in late May, Pichel pulled out due to an injury, and Ismael Bonfim replaced him. Saint Denis won by submission. In his most recent fight, which took place on November 11, 2023, at UFC 295 in New York, Saint Denis faced Matt Frevola and won via first-round knockout.
