Jailton ‘Malhadinho’ Almeida, born in Salvador, Brazil, is a professional mixed martial artist competing in the UFC heavyweight division. Kickstarting his professional career in 2012, Almeida fought in various promotions, including Fight On MMA and Thunder Fight, where he captured the Light Heavyweight Championship titles.

Almeida's journey in the UFC began in 2021, with an impressive debut victory against Nasrudin Nasrudinov on Dana White's Contender Series. He quickly established himself as a formidable heavyweight, showcasing his elite grappling skills with a string of victories, including notable wins over Parker Porter, Derrick Lewis, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. His dominance in grappling is evident from his high control time percentage and numerous first-round finishes.

Jailton Almeida suffered his first UFC loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024. The fight took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. Almeida started strong in the first round, successfully taking Blaydes down multiple times. However, he struggled to capitalize on these takedowns.

In the second round, Blaydes turned the fight around by defending a takedown attempt and unleashing a series of hammer fists. This powerful ground-and-pound barrage led to a TKO stoppage just 36 seconds into the second round, marking a decisive victory for Blaydes. He is set to face Alexander Romanov at UFC 302 on June 1, 2024, aiming to bounce back and pursue the heavyweight strap.
