Cody Beach

Cody Beach, a product of the Kelowna Minor Hockey program, transitioned from a notable playing career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Calgary Hitmen and Moose Jaw Warriors. His standout performance with the Calgary Hitmen contributed to a Memorial Cup berth, leading to his selection by the St. Louis Blues in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Standing at 6'5", Beach excelled as a power forward, earning a spot on the WHL roster for the Canada-Russia Super Series during his time with Moose Jaw. Despite being close to a point-per-game player, he also led the league in penalty minutes. After 166 professional games over four seasons in the St. Louis Blues' minor league system, primarily with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, Beach's playing career was curtailed by injuries. Seeking continued involvement in hockey, he heeded the advice of local hockey volunteers in Moose Jaw and embraced officiating.

Kyle Beach, born on January 13, 1990, is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Despite his potential, Beach did not make it to the NHL, spending his professional career from 2008 to 2014 with minor league affiliates in the American Hockey League (AHL).

In August 2014, Kyle Beach signed a tryout contract with EC Salzburg, which lasted until the end of September. After a brief stint in North America, he returned to Austria with Graz 99ers in December 2015. His most productive season came in 2016–17 with 30 goals and 45 points in 54 games, but his contract with the 99ers was not renewed. He then signed a two-year deal with EC VSV in the EBEL in March 2017. After playing for some more years in Slovakia and Germany, Kyle Beach announced his retirement from professional hockey on May 10, 2022.

By his second year as an official, Beach earned recognition as the top referee in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league and the Prairie Junior B ranks. Progressing to Junior A in the SJHL in his third year, he officiated in the Western Hockey League. Subsequently, Beach advanced to officiate in the WHL full-time and following his second invitation to the NHL Officiating Exposure Combine, secured a minor league referee contract with the NHL the next summer.

Initiating his officiating journey in the Western Hockey League (WHL), Cody Beach diligently climbed the ranks, achieving a significant milestone with his debut as a National Hockey League (NHL) referee in 2022.
