Ally Hammel’s Parents

Born in 1996, Ally Hammel is a rising star in the world of field hockey. She is the daughter of Jennifer and David Hammel. Ally has had an impressive journey from playing ice hockey as a child to representing the United States in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She played a key role in helping the US team beat Japan and clinch an Olympic berth by finishing runners-up to Germany at an Olympic qualifying tournament in Ranchi, India, in January 2024.

Hammel nurtured her field hockey skills at Duxbury High School, she was then recruited to play for Boston University and became much better at the sport. During her time at Boston, Hammel earned many accolades, including being named to the NFHCA/Longstreth All-American First Team in 2017 and 2018, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018, and the Most Outstanding Player of the Patriot League Championship in 2018.

After graduating from BU, Hammel received a call from the US national team which became a major turning point in her life, the transition from college to international competition was rather challenging for her. Hammel is often described as a very creative, consistent, and strong defender. She is sponsored by Longstreth Sporting Goods and uses a Grays GR8000 Dynabow Field Hockey Stick.
