Teresa Gaye Weatherspoon was born on December 8, 1965, in Pineland, Texas, U.S. She is an American former basketball player who joined the Chicago Sky as head coach, as of September 2024. She attended Louisiana Tech University, where she played for the Lady Techsters and helped them win a national title in 1988. She started her coaching career in the American Basketball Association as the head coach of the Westchester Phantoms. Weatherspoon also served as the associate head coach of her alma mater, Louisiana Tech University before taking over as the team's head coach in 2009.
Weatherspoon was appointed head coach of the Chicago Sky on October 12, 2023. She played for the USA Women's Basketball team, winning one gold medal at the FIBA World Championship in 1986, and both a gold and a bronze medal at the Olympics in 1988 and 1992, respectively. Additionally, she played overseas in Turkish, Italian, and Russian leagues
