He later interfered in a match between Lashley and Austin Theory on the April 17 Raw episode, resulting in a beatdown of Lashley. As a result, Reed was added to the WWE United States Championship triple threat match at Backlash on the April 21 SmackDown episode. He failed to win the title and since then has been involved in sporadic feuds, praised for his immense strength.
