In his Sophomore Year, he headed the Rams with 52.5 tackles and three interceptions and returned nine punts for 178 yards.
As a senior, Nwankpa was named the Adidas All-American and MaxPreps Iowa Player of the Year. He turned down the nation’s top programs to play for Iowa to make his mark from a cultural standpoint. He joined the program in 2022 and saw action in all 13 games in his true freshman year, notching 12 tackles, one interception, and a touchdown. Last season, he started 12 games in safety and recorded 41 passes and two pass breakups as a sophomore. In 2024 as a junior, Nwankpa saw action in all 12 games at strong safety and recorded 37 total tackles on the season.
