Claude Giroux is a professional Canadian ice hockey player in the NHL who is currently serving as the alternative captain of the Ottawa Senators. He formerly played for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers. During his early amateur career, Claude played for the Gatineau Olympiques. After validating his skills and strengths, Gatineau decided to sign him. Claude gave his best performance and secured 39 goals and 103 points in 69 games. Due to his promising performance, he was named the Rookie of the Year in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. His NHL journey began when he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2006 NHL Entry draft as the 22nd overall selection. Claude debuted in the NHL against the Ottawa Senators in 2008; although he didn't secure any major scores, he played a significant role as the team's first shooter.

Claude was traded to the Florida Panthers in March 2022 and made a powerful impact in the league. He contributed two assists against the Montreal Canadiens. In the regular season, he earned 3 goals and 20 assists in 18 games and helped the Panthers win the Presidents' Trophy. On July 13, 2022, Claude was traded to the Ottawa Senators and signed a three-year contract with them. Soon, Claude was named as the alternative captain for the team.
