Chidobe Richard Awuzie is a professional American football cornerback for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL, as of the 2024 season. The Dallas Cowboys selected him with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. Awuzie totalled 25 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception with six starts during his rookie season. The following season, Awuzie recorded a total of 71 tackles in 15 games, meanwhile, Awuzie had his best-ever figures in 2019 with 79 tackles. During the 2020 season, due to a hamstring injury, Awuzie was placed on the injured reserve, resulting him in playing only eight games that season. Awuzie inked a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021. With the Bengals, Awuzie sustained a torn ACL and recorded 35 tackles in 2022, but he improved his season in 2023 and returned stronger and hauled 57 tackles. In March 2024, Awuzie and the Tennessee Titans agreed to a three-year contract.
Awuzie played collegiate football at the University of Colorado Boulder. At Colorado, as a freshman Awuzie played in all 12 games and recorded 59 tackles (according to the university's official website). During his sophomore season, he finished with 64 tackles, and along with that, he was the recipient of the Hale Irwin Award. In 2015, he was named to the second-team All-Pac-12 and was the recipient of the Dave Jones Award. During his senior season, Awuzie was the co-recipient of CU’s 2016 Zack Jordan Award. Prior to committing to collegiate football, Awuzie played high school football at Oak Grove High School.
