Amanda Anisimova's Early Life
Born in New Jersey, United States, Anisimova shifted to Miami when she was three. She started showing interest in tennis after watching her sister play the sport. She began playing tennis when she turned five. At 11, she started working with Nick Saviano to hone her tennis skills. Max Fomine, the assistant coach of Bryan Brothers, acts as her travelling coach.
Anisimova quickly ascended to the No. 2 ITF junior ranking, winning the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano. She then secured a spot in the final of the 2002 French Open girls' event, where she lost to Rebeka Masarova. Anisimova also won the Grade-1 Yucatan Cup in 2016 and the Grade-A Copa Gerdau in 2017. She won her maiden major at the US Open junior event, defeating Coco Gauff in the final.
Turning professional in 2016, Anisimova played her first professional tournament at the 2016 US Open. She played her first WTA Tour match at the Miami Open, where she lost to Taylor Townsend. She recorded her first WTA match win at the Indian Wells Open, defeating Pauline Parmentier.
