Leon Draisaitl Family

Leon Draisaitl, born on October 27, 1995, is a professional ice hockey player. The German native plays for the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL as of 2025. He was drafted third overall by the Oilers in the 2014 NHL Draft and has become one of the league's top stars. Draisaitl has become the only German player to win several major NHL awards, including the Hart Trophy (MVP), Art Ross Trophy (most points), and Ted Lindsay Award. Additionally, he earned the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's leading scorer in 2025. Before the NHL, he played in the WHL, receiving recognition and earning a spot in the WHL First All-Star Team (East) and the WHL Finals Most Valuable Player. He represents Germany internationally and has a strong hockey background, being the son of former player Peter Draisaitl.

He was born on December 7, 1965, in Karvina, but he later played for Germany, according to Elite Sports. Peter played for several top teams in Germany, including Mannheimer ERC and Kolner Haie, and also represented West Germany and unified Germany in many international tournaments, including three Olympics. After retiring as a player, he became a coach and led many teams in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. As of 2025, he is the sports manager of Krefeld Pinguine of DEL2.
