William Nylander is a Swedish forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL), as of May 2025. He was drafted eighth overall by the Maples Leafs in 2014 after a strong stint in the HockeyAllsvenskan and Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He made his NHL debut in 2016 and became a full-time roster player, often playing alongside Auston Matthews and Zach Hyman, the same year.

Nylander earned the NFL Rookie of the Month honor in October 2016 and scored his first NHL hat trick in 2017. He posted back-to-back 61-point seasons and helped the Maples Leafs reach the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2017 and 2018. He rebounded with a career-high 31 goals in the 2019-20 season. In January 2024, Nylander signed an eight-year contract extension with his team and was selected for his first NHL All-Star Game the same year.
