William Nylander is a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born on 1 May 1996. He played in the 2009 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the New York Rangers minor team. On February 14, 2013, Nylander made his HockeyAllsvenskan debut. He played alongside his father, Michael Nylander, with Södertälje SK and earned an assist in his first professional game on a goal by Robert Carlsson.

Nylander finished the 2013–14 season with a strong 22-game rookie stint in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), where he played up to 20 minutes per night. The Maple Leafs drafted him eighth overall in 2014. He plays for Sweden internationally despite being born in Canada. Nylander won a gold medal at the 2017 World Championship and was named the tournament MVP.
