The Los Angeles Sparks forward, Dearica Hamby is a two-time Sixth Woman of the Year (2019 and 2020). After joining the LA Sparks as a free agent in 2023, she had the best season of her career in 2024 as she set career highs with 691 points, 368 rebounds, 139 assists, and 68 steals in 40 games. She was also recognized for her excellence on and off the court in 2024 season as she won the 2024 Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award. Hamby is also a three-time All-Star (2021, 2022 and 2024) and will work as a mentor to the young generation in LA Sparks women’s basketball.

Before her professional career, Hamby had an outstanding college career at Wake Forest University. She became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,801 points and top rebounder with 1,021 rebounds. She was named the 2015 Female Student-Athlete of the Year and earned All-ACC First Team honors in 2014 and 2015. Hamby is the only woman from Wake Forest to be drafted into the WNBA in the 21st century. Hamby has also represented the United States in international competitions. She won a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup and was named the tournament MVP. In the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, she helped Team USA win a bronze medal. In 2025, Hamby played for Vinyl BC in the Unrivaled 3x3 basketball league, which was founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. As of January 2025, she has over 161,000 followers on her Instagram account, @dearicamarie. Her salary for the 2025 season is set at $202,000.

Dearica Hamby was crucial in the Las Vegas Aces' victory against the Connecticut Sun in the 2022 WNBA Finals.

In the 2019 WNBA Playoffs, Dearica Hamby made her playoffs debut for the Aces and she was at the center of one of the most unforgettable moments in WNBA history. During the 2019 playoff elimination game between the Las Vegas Aces and Chicago Sky, the Sky was leading 92-90 with 10 seconds left. This is when Hamby stole a pass from Courtney Vandersloot, dribbled past half-court, and launched a running, off-balance three-pointer that miraculously went in. This clutch shot sent the Aces to the 2019 WNBA Playoff Semifinals in a dramatic and iconic fashion. Overall, she scored 17 points against the Chicago Sky in a single elimination game of the 2019 WNBA playoffs.

In the 2019 WNBA semifinals against the Washington Mystics, Hamby recorded her first playoff double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in game 4. However, the Aces lost to the Mystics by 1-3.
