Marina Mabrey plays for the Connecticut Sun after being traded mid-season in July 2024 by the Chicago Sky. She was drafted as the 19th overall pick by the Los Angeles Sparks in the second round of the 2019 WNBA Draft. She turned out to be a draft steal for the Sky as she has performed better than most of the first-round picks of the 2019 WNBA Draft class. Since joining the league, Mabrey has averaged 12.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 36.5% in 3-point range and 41% from the field as of January 2025. She has played for four franchises in her career, the Los Angeles Sparks, Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky, and the Connecticut Sun, and she has made over 190 appearances.

Mabrey has also enjoyed a prestigious overseas career playing in countries like Latvia, Australia, Italy, and Turkey. She had a successful spell with the Italian side named Beretta Familia Schio. She finished third in the 2022-23 EuroLeague while winning the Coppa Italia (2023) and the Italian Basketball League also known as Lega Basket Femminile. Her latest overseas adventure is with the Turkish club named Cukurova Basketball. In the 2024 WNBA season, Mabrey scored 575 points, grabbed 174 rebounds, dished out 163 assists, and made 45 steals in total, while playing for the Sky and Sun.

Marina Mabrey played college basketball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball team. She won one National Championship and made several appearances on the NCAA All-Region teams over the years. She is one of eight players in Fighting Irish’s history to record 500 assists and also holds the record for most three-pointers scored (274) in their history.

In her freshman year, Mabrey averaged 10.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 51.4% from the field and 45.3% from the three-point line. She also played in the NCAA Tournament and lost in the Sweet-Sixteen to Stanford. She averaged 11.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, assists and 1.1 steals per game. In her sophomore year, Mabrey averaged 14.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 47.1% from the field and 38.3% from the three-point line. She also played in the NCAA Tournament and lost in the Elite-Eight to Stanford. She averaged 17.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She was named to the NCAA All-region team for her performance during the regional semi-final and final.

In her junior year, Mabrey averaged 14.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, shooting 45.8% from the field and 39.0% from the three-point line. She also played in the NCAA Tournament and won the National Finals. She averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.6 steals per game. She was named to the NCAA All-region team. In her senior year, Mabrey averaged 12.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 46.6% from the field and 40.8% from the three-point line. She also played in the NCAA Tournament and lost in the National Final to Baylor. She averaged 7.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game during the run to the finals. She made the All-NCAA Tournament for leading the Fighting Irish women's to the Finals.
