Calijah Kancey is a Redshirt Junior at the University of Pittsburgh. He plays the defensive tackle position. Kancey was born in Miami, Florida and went to Miami Northwestern Senior High School. In 2022, Kancey was named a unanimous All-American and the ACC Defensive Football Player of the Year.
Calijah Kancey was a key player in helping his high school football team to win consecutive Florida 6A state championships. Since joining the University of Pittsburgh, Kancey has been a constant force to reckon with. He has had multiple 30+ tackle seasons, with multiple 10+ tackles for loss.
Calijah is an extremely explosive defensive tackle who gets off the line in a rapid fashion. He has an uncanny ability to win most of his battles with the interior offensive linemen. The way he pounces on the offensive guard from the moment the snap is heard is eye-catching. At the NFL Combine, he posted a time of 4.67 in the 40-yard dash. This was a Combine record for a defensive tackle.
His play in the pocket is exceptional. He is always searching for the fastest route to the quarterback and his focus never seems to dwindle. Thus, he is a nightmare in the pass rush department.
