Connor McDavid is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, a team in the National Hockey League (NHL). He began his NHL career after being selected first overall by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL draft. He signed a three-year contract with the Oilers worth $11.3 million the same year, as per Spotrac. McDavid led the Oilers to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2022, where they lost against the Vegas Golden Knights in the conference semifinals.

McDavid has been named to the NHL First All-Star Team five times and has won the Art Ross Trophy five times as the league's top point scorer. He has also received the Ted Lindsay Award, which is given to the most outstanding player as voted by his peers, four times. He has won the Hart Memorial Trophy three times and earned the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy for being the top goal scorer in the 2022–23 season.
