Jon McIsaac

Jon McIsaac is a renowned referee in the National Hockey League. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia, his journey to the NHL started in his hometown. Jon was just 15 when he decided to pursue a career as a referee and not a player. Jon's decision was inspired by his elder brother Jamie who was already a referee.

Jon started his career as a linesman, and his talent was recognized, earning him a place at the prestigious Canada Winter Games in Bathurst, NB, just after two seasons of him participating as a linesman.

His dedication and determination didn't go unnoticed there. During his final QMJHL season, Jon scaled to the Central Hockey League as a part-time referee. This led him to the foundation of his officiating career on the professional stage.

To pursue his dream, Jon packed his bags and shifted to Texas to work as a full-time referee in the Central Hockey League. Despite working in the CHL, he stayed connected to Truro where he served as an assistant pro at the Truro Golf Club. Jon worked as a referee for two seasons in the CHL where he earned recognition and earned a spot in the prestigious 2011 CHL All-Star Game in Rapid City SD.

Jon's dedication and hard work led him to an excellent opportunity in the summer of 2012 when he was 28 years old. He received a call from Terry Gregson who was the NHL Director of Officiating during that time. Terry offered him an NHL Minor League Referee Contract. Jon seized this opportunity and worked four seasons in the minor league of the NHL. In 2016, Jon's momentum came when he was promoted to full-time NHL referee.
