Matthew Knies is an American hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs as of April 2025. He was drafted 57th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. Before joining the NHL, Knies played college hockey with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, earning Big Ten Player of the Year in 2023 and becoming a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

Knies made his NHL debut on April 10, 2023. He helped the Maple Leafs in their playoff run, scoring his first NHL goal in the second round. On January 4, 2025, he recorded his first career hat trick. He also represented Team USA at the 2022 World Juniors and Winter Olympics.
