Matthew Knies is an American professional ice hockey forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as of April 2025. He was drafted 57th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2021 NHL Draft. He played college hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and was named Big Ten Player of the Year in 2023. He was also a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

Knies made his NHL debut on April 10, 2023, and played in the Maple Leafs’ 2023 playoff run. He scored his first NHL goal in the second round of the playoffs and recorded his first hat trick on January 4, 2025. Internationally, Knies represented the U.S. at the 2022 World Junior Championship and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
