The Pittsburgh Penguins is a professional ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1967, the team is competing in the National Hockey League as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins have become one of the most successful franchises in the NHL with five Stanley Cups in 1991, 1992, 2009, 2016, and 2017. The Penguins played their home at the Civic Arena before moving to PPG Paints Arena in 2010.

The minor stake of the Pittsburgh Penguins is held by Mario Lemieux. Mario Lemieux is one of the greatest players in the NHL. He played for the Penguins between between 1984 and 2005. He again came to rescue the Penguins by becoming the co-owner of the team in 1999 when the franchise was on the verge of bankruptcy.
