Sam Bennett is a Canadian ice hockey center and left winger, playing for the Florida Panthers in the NHL. Born on June 20, 1996, in Holland Landing, Ontario, he was drafted 4th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2014 NHL Draft.

He made his NHL debut with Calgary in the 2014-15 season. After several seasons with the Flames, Bennett was traded to the Florida Panthers in 2021. In 2023, Bennett helped the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Final and finally won it in 2024. He’s also represented Canada on the international stage, winning gold at the U18 World Championships and competing in the NHL 4 Nations tournament.

In August 2024, Bennett returned to his hometown, bringing the Stanley Cup home after helping lead the Florida Panthers to victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Hundreds of residents, fans, and families lined up for a photo with both Bennett and the Cup, according to New Market Today. Bennett addressed the crowd while wearing a Team Canada jersey, sharing heartfelt memories of learning to skate and scoring his first goal on that very rink. “This is where I fell in love with hockey,” Bennett said. “It’s really cool to come back here at the peak of my career and bring the Stanley Cup to where it all started," according to NHL.com.
