Barbara Turner is a retired women’s basketball player and coach who was a great offensive as well as defensive player. She later joined the University of Connecticut (UConn) for her college education. While at UConn, she was in the team that was crowned the 2003 as well as 2004 NCAA champions and she was able to switch between being a guard and a forward. She also got to the NCAA Championship the next year in 2004.

Turner was drafted 11th overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. During her WNBA career, she has been associated with various teams such as the Houston Comets and Connecticut Sun where she has been an asset to the teams through her scoring and defensive prowess. Turner also played in the WNBA and internationally in countries such as Turkey, Israel, and Russia to improve her skills. After she left professional play she became a coach.

Barbara Turner played at the University of Connecticut from 2002 to 2006. While studying at UConn, Turner was used as both a guard and a forward, which made her a very valuable player. She was instrumental in the success of the Huskies and played a part in the team winning the 2003 and 2004 NCAA National Championships. Even though she was not one of their prime scorers, Turner proved herself to be invaluable to the team by being a consistent source of points and playing great defense. Her ability to perform in high-pressure situations was one of the key characteristics of Turner’s college career.

In her senior year, Turner averaged 14.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, which depicts her scoring and rebounding skills. In her college basketball career that spanned four years, she scored 1,629 points and 797 rebounds, which placed her among the all-time greats of UConn basketball. Turner was also a great defender; she received All-Big East awards several times. Her college performance at UConn prepared her for her professional career in the WNBA and overseas making her stand out as a force to reckon with in women’s basketball.
