Nurse started her basketball journey at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School in her hometown where she led her school team to three consecutive OFSAA high school championships from 2011-13. After school success, she moved on to college basketball at the UConn Huskies women's basketball at the University of Connecticut in 2014. In her college career, she has won the AAC Freshman of the Year and ACC Defensive Player of the Year award. She has also won the prestigious NCAA championship back to back in 2015 and 2016.
