Delhi Capitals Schedule IPL 2023 Details

Delhi Capitals (DC) will enter the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as one of the five teams to participate in each season since 2008.

The Capitals begin their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 1.

With the home and away formats returning back to normalcy in the upcoming IPL season after three years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Delhi Capitals will play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (previously known as Feroz Shah Kotla) in Delhi.

The Capitals will play their first season at home since the venue was renamed in September 2019. DC will play its first home game in IPL 2023 against defending champions Gujarat Titans on April 4.

Capitals are clubbed with Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and LSG. Unlike the last season, each team will play only once against teams from the same groups and twice versus teams from the opposite group.

Delhi Capitals have some important matches against MI (April 11), RCB (April 15), KKR (April 20), CSK (May 10 & 20). Their last league stage fixture is scheduled on May 20 against MS Dhoni's CSK at home.

Capitals have never won the elusive IPL title in the last 15 years and will thrive for it in the forthcoming season. However, the Capitals received a major blow ahead of the season with regular skipper Rishabh Pant enduring a horrific car accident at the beginning of the year.

It is very unlikely for the 25-year-old to recover back to full fitness in such a short period and make his availability for the season. Capitals are yet to announce the replacement for Pant in the captaincy role.

Reports have suggested that the Australian opener David Warner will take the charge for the Capitals in IPL 2023. England player Philip Salt is the only option for wicket keeping apart from Pant available for DC at the moment.

Capitals had retained 20 players last year before the mini-auction, where they made only five purchases. Veteran pacer Ishant Sharman, who has played 17 matches for the franchise in the previous editions, was picked alongside Bengal fast bowler Mukesh Kumar.

Kumar was the most expensive pick by the Capitals at the auction for INR 5.5 crore. Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey and Salt were the other signings from the auction.
