Joseph Alt is an American football offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers as of the 2024 NFL season. The Chargers selected him with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. According to Spotrac, he signed a four-year contract with the Chargers worth $33.1 million. Before entering the NFL, Alt played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, representing the University of Notre Dame from 2021 to 2023.

According to CBS Sports, he allowed just four sacks throughout his entire college career and was the highest-graded offensive lineman in the country during the 2023 season. Born in North Oaks, Minnesota, Alt attended Totino-Grace High School in Fridley, Minnesota, where he played both offensive tackle and tight end. He was rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports and a three-star recruit by both Rivals and ESPN.

Joe Alt plays as a football offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. More specifically, he played the offensive tackle position and was generally deployed on the left side, thereby making him a natural left tackle.

During his high school years, Alt played both offensive tackle and tight end at Totino-Grace High School in Fridley, Minnesota. While at Notre Dame, he began his true freshman year in 2021 and was immediately given a starting role for all 13 games as the team’s left tackle. He played and started another 13 games at the left tackle position in his sophomore year. An overall outstanding season led to him being named as a First-team Associated Press All-American.
