The Colorado Avalanche started their journey as the Quebec Nordiques in the World Hockey Association (WHA) in 1972. Notably, they were one of the charter franchises of the WHA and won the Avco World Trophy in 1976-77 alongside four Division Championships. However, their defining moment came in 1995 when they debuted as the Colorado Avalanche and won the Pacific Division. Furthermore, that same season they clinched their first Stanley Cup after sweeping the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals.


Till now, they have claimed three Stanley Cups, three Conference Championships, and 12 Division titles while they play their home games at Ball Arena, sharing the stadium with Denver Nuggets of NBA and Colorado Mammoth of NLL. Furthermore, they have played 44 regular seasons and appeared in 29 playoffs till date.

The 2023-2024 regular season for the Colorado Avalanche was marked by many notable games and impressive performances, this included a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings in their season opener, followed by notable wins against the Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers later in the season.

Colorado Avalanche Playoffs 2023-2024 Schedule

On April 22, 2024, the Colorado Avalanche faced the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 of the first round of the playoff series where they faced a heartbreaking defeat at Winnipeg. Cale Makar contributed one goal and two assists, leading the charge of Avalanche. Other players like Artturi Lehkonen, Valeri Nichushkin, Miles Wood, and Casey Mittelstadt also contributed with goals, and strong efforts, they fell short.
