Born in Shiyan, Hubei, Qinwen Zheng is a Chinese tennis sensation ranked World No. 7 as of October 2024. She lifted her maiden WTA singles title at the 2023 Palermo Open, defeating Jasmine Paolini in the final. As of 2024, she has won three singles titles, including the 2024 Palermo Open. With the win, she became the first Asian player to win a gold medal in Olympic singles. Zheng created the biggest upset by defeating World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the semifinals. By registering a win against Swiatek she broke the Pole's 25-match winning streak at Roland Garros.
