Alexander DeBrincat is an American professional ice hockey right winger currently playing with the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League. He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft as the 39th overall draft pick. He debuted with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2017-2018 season and showcased his power on the ice. He scored his first NHL goal against the Montreal Canadiens in October and finished his rookie season with an impressive 28 goals and 52 points. The 2018-2019 season was even better for DeBrincat where he scored 41 goals and 76 points. He finished the 2020-2021 season with 32 goals and 56 points despite the pandemic. DeBrincat was named as an alternate captain for the Blackhawks in the 2021-2022 season. He was traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2022, where he contributed 66 points in 82 games in his first season with them.

Alex DeBrincat was born on December 18, 1997, in Farmington Hills, Michigan to parents David and Tracey Deberincat. Alex DeBrincat admired NHL's former player Pavel Datsyuk during his childhood and was inspired to play in the NHL like him. He attended Harrison High School in Farmington Hills and later Illinois' Lake Forest Academy to prepare for his further studies in college. At Lake Forest, he nurtured his skills. Alex DeBrincat played hockey and baseball there. He scored an impressive 54 goals and 111 points in just 50 games there. During his time in Lake Forest, he planned to play college ice hockey in Massachusetts but he changed his mind and joined the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League for the 2014-2015 season. He showcased his power there and scored 51 goals and 104 points in his debut season. Due to his impactful performance, he claimed the Emmas Family Award and CHL Rookie of the Year. He also achieved the titles like Eddie Power Memorial, Jim Memorial, Red Tilson, and the Player of the Year Award. Alex DeBrincat made history by becoming the second player in the OHL to score 50 goals and 100 points in each season there, from 2014-2017.


His elder brother Andrew also graduated from Lake Forest Academy in 2012.
