Brandon Montour is an ice hockey defenseman for the Seattle Kraken in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is of Mohawk descent and spent his childhood in Ohsweken, Six Nations of the Grand River reserve. Montour began his minor hockey journey in Cambridge, Ontario, and later joined the Waterloo Black Hawks in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Additionally, he played a season at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he became the highest NHL draft pick in their school program's history, ultimately, leading to his selection by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Montour commenced his NHL journey at 21 while playing for the Norfolk Admirals, the former American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. However, he was soon transferred to San Diego Gulls, where he played for two seasons, scoring 25 goals and recording 64 assists over 104 appearances. Montour was selected to back-to-back AHL All-Star Games. The following season, he was called up by the Ducks and made his NHL debut on December 28, 2016, against the Calgary Flames.
